Live music every night!
One of the very few places in Victoria which offers live music 7 nights a week with NO cover charge, with so many choices of drink on tap the Bard & Banker offers you the same diverse selection musically. We feature mostly local artists from Victoria with others coming from surrounding islands and the mainland.
Sunday night is our Unplugged series which is drawing from the idea of the MTV unplugged series where all the music was acoustic and preformed interactively with the audience. With the addition of a baby grand piano to our stage our entertainers know no bounds with the selection they can pull from.
Music starts nightly at 8:30pm and plays until midnight, plenty of time to pop in for a meal and some entertainment or simply just somewhere to grab a night cap and catch up.
Tonight's Artist: Steve Chmilar
Steve’s Recipe: Take a good slab of the classic tunes, adds a few from the far left field for good measure, up-beat them together with fellow musicians Tyler Logan and Cam Labelle, chuck it all up in the air and spin it around a bit, then adds some extra cheer to taste.
“I like anything...anything goes, but I will mostly play songs by artists that I respect”. This immediately becomes apparent when you hear his vocals effortlessly blend from genre to genre. You can tell he’s been setting the scene for a while...
For four years, Steve (guitar/vocals) and Tyler (Bass) along with Eric Elhanati (drums) rocked BC with their band “The Villains”. In that time they released two full length albums and played hundreds of shows mainly in Vancouver and Calgary. The decision to make a break lead Steve to concentrate on his own sound; “I’ve been a one-man band for a couple of years now. It’s challenged me to make as much sound as I can by myself using both drums and guitar. Playing local gigs like this gives me a platform to experiment with new songs and sounds...it keeps me busy!” There’s also been a recent decision to bring back “The Villains” under a new name, so there’s no doubt you’ll start to see the full band joining Steve for his upbeat acoustic adventures; original bassist Tyler Logan, Eric on drums and new member Cam on guitar and vocals. And with a third album in the pipeline you’ll soon be hearing their new recipe’s cooking with the classic covers...enjoy!
